venue: Cranfield Management Development Centre, Cranfield University, Cranfield, Beds, MK43 0AL

This repeat of a successful course provides a mix of comprehensive and complementary lectures and interactive exercises covering the basics of Intellectual Property and Licensing, setting up a Business Framework for Licensing and conducting and living with a Licensing Deal (including strategy for IP management and the tools to manage IP).

This is followed by an introduction to the basics of licensing including exercises and a review of the important clauses of a licence.  There is then a review of the high-level business processes for Intellectual Asset Management and the relation of licensing to corporate strategy.

You will learn how to guide and manage components of the high level process to create deal opportunities and sustainable deal flow as well as how to manage your IP cost-effectively over time.  You will also learn how to identify and apply valuation approaches and recognise and practice elements of successful negotiation using an extensive licence negotiation exercise based on case study materials from earlier sessions.  Lastly, you will learn what happens after the deal is made and how to construct and deliver a strategy for IP management.
