ACID (Anti Copying in Design) is a hard-hitting, membership trade organisation representing 1000+ companies from 25 different industry sectors with a collective turnover of £3 billion. The organisation is committed to fighting intellectual property theft to safeguard innovation and ensure that IP can be fully protected, exploited and commercialised - ACID has a particular interest in design right issues. To date there have been over 220 settlements on behalf of ACID members and just under £3 million recovered in costs and damages.

ACID's objectives remain the same as when the organisation first started as a round table action group:

  • To change the culture that it is OK to steal ideas and free ride on another's design equity
  • To create a safer commercial framework for creative industries to flourish

ACID's overall objectives are underpinned by initiatives which encompass: Education, Prevention, Deterrence, Support, Industry Alignment, and Lobbying activities
